Pune Calling -Route deatils!!!!

Sunday was gone even before I got a hang of it, Initially after Bangy to Hubli ride , wanted to do a short ride from Hubli to Pune on 1 April 2009 and take rest for two days at home, but later decided against it. I was in for a Two day ride. All the plannes were not happning at all. So was not sure as to where and what. Thought I might as well spin the bottle in the morning and pick a direction! Yeah right. Couldn't catch sleep thinking where to ride. With the original destination being Pune, I felt like doing more and visiting the Charismatic sea shore of Ratnagiri and pristine hills of Mahabaleswar. . So 12.15 am monday I took the Eicher map and Decided it would be Hubli-Ratnagiri via Kolapur day1, Ratnagiri-Mahabaleshwar day2 and finally mahabaleshwar to Pune via panchagini. Some plan which helped me to catch sleep.


My Pulsar was all serviced and ready for much some miles. Finally its was happening, long ride. I was Ready and excited for The Hubli - Ratnagiri-mahabaleshwar-Pune ride.



Route taken:


Day 1 Saturday. Bangalore - Tumkur - Chitradurga - Davangeri - Hubli - 438 kilometers (NH-4)

Day 2. Home(Hubli) -Nh-4- Belgum -NH-4- Kolapur -Amba Ghat - Ratnagiri - 433 kilometers


Day 3. Ratnagiri - Ganapathipule - Chuplin - Poladpur - Ambenali Ghat -Mahabaleshwar - Panchgani - Parsani Ghat - Wai - Khambatki Ghat - Pune.- 478 Kilometrs

Distance to Ratnagiri from major cities.
Pune - Ratnagiri -> 365Kms
Goa - Ratnagiri -> 240Kms
Kolhapur - Ratnagiri -> 130Kms
Hubli - Ratnagiri -> 330 kms
Bangalore - Ratnagiri (via Hubli)-> 730Kms

Distance to Mahabaleshwar from major cities.
Pune - Mahabaleshwar-> 120 kms
Goa - Mahabaleshwar -> 422 kms
Hubli - Mahabaleshwar -> 380kilometers
Bangalore - Mahabaleshwar (via Hubli) -> 810 kms

One Life To Ride

Jullay!! I am yet to recover from my excursion to Leh-Ladakh; the pictures are still stored in my memory. Here is a quick post to recollect some of my greatest 'Ladakhi' moments. Some places are such that when you think of capturing their beauty in words, you feel afraid; that you will do injustice to them. Ladakh was such an experience for me. I was so overwhelmed by its grandeur and visual experiences that I kept postponing this blog for months. I would stare at the pictures and loose myself in those unforgettable moments. The very first thing that stays in my mind are the images of the snow capped mountains ringing the brownish landscape of the cold desert-Ladakh. You can see lakes, monasteries and great landscapes, but as you scoop down the mountains on a bike it takes your breath away.
